The Green Bay Packers have a new quarterback, and Rodgers and his new receiver are looking for a new band to perform with. As of the writing of this blog post, the Packers had not yet signed any new band members. If you are a Packers fan, you might be wondering if the band will be back together for the 2018-2019 season.
What is there to say about the Green Bay Packers that hasn’t already been said? They’ve won the Super Bowl, the most recent being after the 2011 season, when a Rodgers-led offense won the NFC Championship. They’ve also been to the playoffs in six of the last seven seasons, and in the last three seasons going to the NFC Championship Game.
In that time period, the Packers have tied for the most playoff wins with the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants, and are tied for the most Super Bowl appearances with the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys. In the 2018 season, the Green Bay Packers offense was built around the star combination of Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson, which brought the Packers to the top of the NFL.
However, the Packers offense had a rough 2018 season, and the Packers were one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL. Rodgers was injured for much of the season, and the team only made it to the playoffs because Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game.
After two seasons apart, Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb have reunited on the Green Bay Packers. The two are trying to go back in time and rekindle their eight-year-old magical relationship.
They’re now looking for another old buddy to join them. Cobb went to Instagram only hours after rejoining the Packers to try to persuade his former teammate, Jordy Nelson, to come out of retirement and resurrect the band.

Aaron Rodgers’ involvement in the Randall Cobb deal, according to Packers GM Brian Gutekunst: “That, I believe, is a significant factor. We wouldn’t be pursuing it if it weren’t for Aaron. Randall is still a capable player…. This is exactly what Aaron wanted, so we went ahead and executed it.”

Rodgers’ attendance at training camp this week has been a question mark for the last several months. The unhappy quarterback is open about his dissatisfaction with the club, and he doesn’t appear to see himself staying in Green Bay for the long haul.
Rodgers did, however, show up for the opening day of camp on Wednesday, and he did so with a special request, much to the surprise of many. Randall Cobb should be found.
With their backs against the wall, the Packers decided to make a deal with the Houston Texans. Cobb has 39 regular-season touchdowns from Rodgers in his eight seasons with the Packers, the fourth-most of any receiver who has ever played with the great quarterback.
One of the names on the list in front of him? You guessed correctly.
Cobb has already enlisted the help of Jordy Nelson to resurrect the band
With Rodgers, Cobb, and Nelson all on the roster, the Packers offense was almost unstoppable. Green Bay completed the season five times as a top-eight scoring offense over the seven-year span in which all three were teammates. During that time, the Packers were the highest-scoring team in the NFL twice.
Why don’t you go back and do it again?
Cobb went to Instagram on Wednesday, just hours after being traded, to urge Nelson out of retirement. Nelson doesn’t seem to be interested in lacing up the cleats again at 36 years old, but he’ll undoubtedly be cheering for his old pals from the sofa every week.
Davante Adams, who played with both Cobb and Nelson a few years ago, was questioned about reconnecting with his former teammates at camp. Cobb’s fast reaction may indicate that he isn’t the only one pleading for Nelson’s return.
Adams said, “I’m ecstatic.” “All I have to do now is wait for Jordy, and we’ll be done.”
Should the Packers try to sign Nelson?

Last season, the Packers had the most prolific scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 31.8 points per game behind Rodgers and Adams. Green Bay didn’t need to bring back an aging Cobb, and they certainly don’t need a 36-year-old, injury-prone wide out who hasn’t played in the NFL in two years.
Simultaneously, the Packers should make it a priority to keep Rodgers pleased at all costs. If bringing Nelson back to Green Bay will assist with that goal, the front management should at least consider it.
Nelson seems to be happy in retirement, but the Packers are the only club that might persuade him otherwise. Would it surprise anybody if Rodgers and Cobb persuaded an old buddy to join them for one last ride?
